4 Fun Ways To Get Fit For FREE In Singapore

Singapore leading the way in free fitness

Singapore is safe, clean, modern and provides a high standard of living. But… conversations constantly revolve around how much it costs to live here and to do anything.

Well, I'm about to prove that theory wrong in the area of fitness. On this wonderful island, there's no excuse not to stay fit and healthy for FREE!

And I'm not talking about going for a walk on the East Coast - these are organised activities and classes. The Government has spearheaded many of these initiatives in an effort to get people moving and living healthier lives.

So read on as I let you in on the secret to free fitness activities that you can find going on every week. And newcomers are always welcome.
    1. Armour @ the Bay

Held every Tuesday evening, this free-to-participate fitness programme is held at Fullerton Bay, conceived with the conviction that with the appropriate motivation, individuals can come together and keep fit by pushing one’s willpower to further her or his athleticism and wellness. Under Armour has partnered with Urban Remedy and Virgin Active to deliver a variety of classes including yoga, HIIT and dance. Spaces are limited are bookings can be made online here.

    2. Sundays @ The Park

Love the outdoors and want to get your boogie on? Then look no further, Sundays @ The Park is for you. Organised by the Health Promotion Board every Sunday, you can find activities being held in amazing parks all across Singapore from Bishan to Serangoon and beyond. With a line up including Bollydazz, Zumba, KPopX and Salsation, to name a few, there's no better way to workout in the greenery. Information can be found here.

    3. Singapore SportsHub

In my opinion, this is the best kept secret in Singapore. Daily activities are available, and the best news is they are all free. Learn-To-Play, Free-To-Play and FIT-sessions are all-inclusive, in-house community programmes that are suitable for everyone (aged 7 years and above).

You can try learning a new sport with a certified coach on hand to help you, or join a group activity class. Options vary by month, but you can expect to see basketball, beach volley, fencing and even lacrosse. And if you are after fitness classes, these include bootcamps, Zumba, kickboxing, yoga, pilates and cardio blast. Check out the latest schedule here.

    4. Health Promoting Malls

And if the heat is just too much for you and you want to head indoors, chances are, you won’t have to stroll too far from home. Now there are “Mall Workouts” you can attend – all before you do your grocery shopping. ION, Jem, AMK Hub and United Square are just a few of the participating malls that will have you doing yoga, kickboxing, hot hula, Zumba and piloxing. Starbucks coffee stop afterwards is optional. The latest schedule and registration details are here.

So why not try something new for free? Who knows - you may love it, meet new friends and get fit doing it!
